Week 13 — 10 September 2021

An interesting, comprehensive but annoyingly inconclusive article here from Search Engine Journal about what makes a brilliant CTA (Call to Action). We've spent (waaay too much) time obsessing over the minutiae of CTA's in a bid to drive clicks for clients; trialling countless button shapes, colours, contrast, animations, hover-states and endless copy options for them. So, it's zero comfort to know that there really is no golden egg. Though, a golden egg button...that could start a click-storm right?

Under the influence ➜

It's a useful new platform, which drastically cuts the time and work involved in searching, sourcing and engaging social media's brightest burning stars. Statement art. Literally. ➜

In the hope of inspiring more positive conversations around personal finances Lloyds Bank is turning bank statements into works of art for a new exhibition. This is the precise opposite of those moments spent blindly hoping the ATM will dispense cash and not confiscate your card. Not to be cynical, but we're guessing it's easier to have positive cash conversations and make art about it, when your finances have a positive balance. A situation the many artists would find unrelatable.

IKEA traps house mates in the 90s ➜

This was a confident marketing stunt from IKEA. To celebrate 25 years of IKEA in Spain they launched a mini reality (Big Brother style) TV show. With each episode, some of the modern day storage and furnishing comforts IKEA brings were removed from the house. The brand theorising that anyone born after the 1990 has “Never known life without IKEA." Well, anyone born before 1990, who has assembled a Billy Bookcase or two, would argue that's no bad thing.
